A beautiful, low-maintenance bushy or tree-like cactus with flattened, greyish-green pads (10–40cm long). It features white areoles with yellow glochids and sometimes spines. In late spring to summer, it blooms with bright yellow bowl-shaped flowers (10cm wide) followed by edible, spineless purple fruits up to 10cm long. Some varieties may produce yellow, orange, or red fruit.
